Memorandum:
Since the operation of Ordinance No. 8 of 1871, until the arrival of Mr. Thomsett, the fees collected under Section XI of the said Ordinance were paid into the Treasury;
Mr. Thomsett claims such fees as remuneration for the extra work alleged to be thrown upon him, and the Acting Attorney General is requested to advise whether he is legally entitled to claim them, or whether they may not be considered as intended to form part of the salary which he receives as Immigration Officer and Harbor Master.
